Care Portal
North of Scotland Care Portal Programme
The North of Scotland Care Portal programme was established in 2018 with the following objectives:
- Supporting the regional agenda through consolidated electronic citizen data, with scope for developing electronic regional patient pathways
- Implementation and ongoing development of a real time electronic health and care record
- Provision of a unified view of health and care data from previously disparate primary, acute and social care systems across the North Board areas
- Improving patient safety and care through wider, real time, accessible citizen data enabling quicker and better informed clinical decisions
Ongoing deliverables include:
- Roll out to Tayside and Western Isles user base. As of November 2022, Orkney have access to the system.
- Regional patient pathways
- Increased collaborative functionality
- Access roll out to Community Pharmacies, Dentists and Optometrists and Major Trauma
Longer term objectives include:
- Western Isles integration of SCI Store and Patient Admin System
- Social Care integration
- GP systems integration
- Moving hosting of the system to the Cloud
Capacity and a lack of funding has meant some deliverables cannot be achieved in the short term. These remain as longer term objectives and will be considered as part of regional E-Health discussions over the coming months.
Other deliverables are being taken forward by substantive staff or through the regional hub (as outlined above).
